Well heres something for ya Mr.Buzz.
Will a low-profile ram (1 1/2" tall <-?) be
ok/work in a iMac?
Its the same specs= pc100/3.3volt/168pin and
dark purple *grin*

That's an easy one Bill.

Yes
If it's the same chipe type (PC-100/ 168 pin) and physically is the same size as the slot (remember that the iMac rev A and B have 2 different size slots for ram - A 1.5" and a 2") then it will work wonderfully. the iMac won't care if it's low profile or not.

I just installed a 256mb chip in a friends iMac 350 so she's running a standard 256 and a low profile 64 with no problems.

here's a tip though..... get the Light purple chips! they don't absorb heat like the dark purple chips. http://www.cybertechhelp.com/ubb/smile.gif (just kidding)

I thought as much Buzz. The only reason why I was asking it's one of my spares and I stuck the two 32 next to each other and one is a bit smaller. Hey I had it in this guy for a long time and it cooked.
The other reason was to wake ya up..and the mac folks. http://www.cybertechhelp.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Like the topic says though...
"Gee everyone's mac must be running wonderfully!"

Still sailing along with my 9.1 upgrade after Buzz bailed me out of a Sound control problem! I haven't once yet been sorry for doing the upgrade...other than costs associated with having to upgrade everything else too....Norton Utilities and Anti virus, just to start.

But hey! I got a heck of a deal today when I called Symantec about those upgrades as I want the physical shipment, not the download. They are sending me Norton Systemworks 1.0, which includes Utilities, Anti virus, Spring Cleaning and Retrospect Express, for less than the cost to upgrade the first two!! That's because they're cross-upgrading me.....sounds like a bonus to me! And then on the website there's a $50US ($75 CDN) mail-in rebate.

So, all in all, I'm a happy MacCamper!! http://audone0.tripod.com/Smilies/clap.gif

Yes that is good news Audrey. http://palws.tripod.com/gifs/flash.gif

This time next year I'll most likely be the only one with 8.6. http://www.cybertechhelp.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Hey Bill...if I can do it and be somewhat successful, anyone can!! Actually, I'm quite eager to try OSX but not 'til someone else solves all the associated problems! http://audone0.tripod.com/Smilies/ezpi_blush.gif
