Hi everyone.
I made a really bad mistake in trying to fix some start up bugs on my pc at home (running win2k sp4) by trying to re-install it again (this worked for me many times with win98). As soon as it starts the setup and begins to detects my current version windows, it alerts me that I can't install win2k and to contact an administrator. It only has 2 options, hit enter to continue or F3 to quit. So I have to hit F3 each time. Now when my computer starts up, during the boot, it asks me what I would like to start and it gives me 2 options- windows 2k professional or windows 2k professional set up. It defaults to set up and only gives me 5 seconds before it automatically starts the set up process again ultimately resulting in that screen that tells me I can't continue and must hit F3 to quit. If I select the windows 2k professional option, my win2k loads as it did before.

Anyone know how to get rid of this win 2k set up boot default option that I created? Now I must sit in front of my computer as I starts up and switch the selection to the normal boot each time or else it goes to set up where it eventually fails.

I don't think CD and key code that I used for the reinstall is the same as the original CD and key code that I used for the original install. Could this be the problem? Any advice or input would help

Thanks for all your help

Hi,
You need to edit the boot.ini file
