Two in one box?

iMac Rev.B, 4 GB harddrive

Will be having all my upgrades donein the next week or so, and before the tech gets here I would like to know if it's possible, in my machine, to add the second 20GB harddrive and keep the existing one in there? Could I then just use the existing one for backup??
