Buzz, Bill....anybody taking the big plunge to OS X today, or in the near future?? I'm sure tempted, but think I'll wait and see what the fallout is first! :p

I'm torn in two directions here...
on one side my linux dual boot partition's in a mess, with OS X it's unix based so I can use it straight away, no dual booting as I understand it
on the other side there are bound to be bugs with a total rewrite, DVDs don't work apparently, ditto iTunes as well I think :(

I suspect there's a real steep learning curve associated with X also. And for those of us who don't understand all the inner workings, it could be a daunting process at best! Likely best to lay low, and read everything possible, then make an informed decision, rather than following the frenzy that seems to surround this release!!

At this moment in time I'm waiting until the update in June which brings DVD support and hopefully fixes any bugs in the current release.

Call me stupid but, are all Mac Os's based on UNIX, or only this one? If not what are the others based in/on?

Well, I'm waiting for OSX.5 or OSXI. I don't like beta-testing release software. :)
I'm sure there will be problems and it's such a major change that it will take some work to correct problems. As things stand now I can always do a clean install and be up and running in just a bit. Not so sure OSX will be as easy. I can't afford to go a day without my Mac operating due to system problems.
Not to mention that most of my software is not OSX native yet. Photoshop, Illustrator, Painter, Quark all would run in classic mode. I perfer to have one operating system per computer. I guess I'm funny that way.

Like you Bill, I spent the better part of yesterday trying to read all I could.....must've been deadly 'cause I usually couldn't get in anywhere!! Now I know for sure I'm on the long-wait list!! I do love 9.1, and can't say I've had one minute's problem!!
