Was wondering if anyone could help me out with the following questions...

1. How to pull a floppy out of a drive assuming it were turned off? (paperclip right?)

2. If the Finder file were removed from the System Folder or placed in the trash he would know that the system will not boot right? What would you do to get the computer booting?

3. Two SCSI devices cannot have the same SCSI ID #. How would you fix this or even detect it?

4. How do you boot off of a MacOS CD? What keys or whatever do you hold down? (apple or command c right?)

5. How do you trouble shoot problems with corrupted fonts?

6. How do you flash the ROM and Zap the P-Ram?

Thank you for all your help....if anyone knows of any mac tech boards or something where i can post these please inform me!

thankkkkkkk you!!!

The resident Mac experts should be around soon to help you out, Solid. I think I'd rather let them help you than mess things up by doing it myself! I do know that you hold down the 'c' key to boot from a CD!! (Check your mail!)

This should look REAL familiar... i answered at another forum

#1) paperclip, right.

#2) Right. The mac won't boot. To fix this you must boot off of a startup CD or disk and either do a clean instll of the system or move the finder back into the system folder.

#3) There is no easy way to detect it other than lookign at the back of the SCSI devices and checkign their numbers. Where the number is displayed there are little buttons above and below the number. Push the buttons to change the SCSI ID number. (Zip drives only allow for SCSI ID 5 or 6)

#4) On newer Macs put the CD in the drive and boot up while holding down the C key. On older Macs put the CD in the drive and hold down Commadn Option and Delete while the Mac Boots.

#5) Remove the fonts from the system until problems go away, then reinstall fonts one at a time until the problem reoccurs. Or use software like Font Doctor or FontAgent.

#6) Forget about flashing the ROM... it's VERY Unlikely you ever need to do that. To reset the PRAM hold down Comman Option P and R while the Mac boots. Keep holding the keys until the boot chime sounds 5 times then let go.
