help getting linux
Hi, im trying to get linux on my computer. Currently my computer is empty, that is it is at the state where it says that no operating system is found. Can someone tell me how to get linux or any other os that is free on there. I want to be able to browse the internet, and play games such as counterstrike. Thanks and can someone give me a link on how to use linux and the commands. Thanks a lot!

Welcome to CTH,
and Welcome to Linux As for free, browsing the internet. There are many free distros. My favorite and on the rise in popularity is mandrake. As for playing counterstrike, you'll have to find programs that will converge window programs into linux. the best that I know of so far that is free is wine. (winehq.com) I have had the HL games play on this with little issues, so have fun! As for getting the right distro of linux, I would recommend distrowatch.com Good luck with linux, remember. I am a fan of debian for newbies. The apt-get method is rather nice, and it's newbie-friendly.
Did you choose a distro yet?
