Pri. Master Disk Hdd S.m.a.r.t. Capabilty....disabled

Hi all,
I have looked through all the posts and cant seem find my problem.I have a Emachine and it was working fine until my friend decided to delete files she thought she didnt need and now when the computer is turned on I get this:

SEC MASTER DISK DVD,DMA 2
SEC SLAVE DISK CD-RW.DMA 2

PRIMARY MASTER DISK HDD S.M.A.R.T. CAPABILTY .... DISABLED

BOOT FROM CD:




I have went to the bootdisk.com and made a booter disk,but before I put it in,does anyone have any suggestions?BTW there are no manufactuer disks with this computer.

Hi,
You have a Hardware or BIOS problem.

Was anything else changed when your friend was there? Anything in the BIOS?


If you go into the BIOS and look for the drive settings.
See if it is set to Automatically detect.

Also, you may have to check inside the case to see if the HDD is connected securely.

I forgot to tell you in my last post.I dont know what it was she deleted only that she deleted files and now this is what happens when I turn the computer on.

When you first start the PC you should be able to enter the BIOS when the POST screen shows (where it shows the drives connected and RAM etc.).

It's usually DEL to Enter Setup.

What is it that I am to look for or change?

goto the top option and see if the drive is detected or run through the drive options.

If it is not being detected then it could be a faulty connection or a falulty drive.
