View Full Version : Increased RAM

I had an exceptionally slow Thinkpad 600e that had only 96mb of RAM installed. I thought that by increasing the RAM I would at least see an improvement in speed for sure, but that is not what happened.

I increased the RAM to 288 but have not noticed anything that would indicate that it is faster, in fact I would say it is about the same as it always was or even a bit slower. It certainly does lock-up a lot more now.

I am enclosing my HIJACKTHIS log to see if you can see anything blatenly wrong that needs to be corrected.

C:\CFGSAFE\AUTOCHK.EXE

Do a search, unless CFGSAFE has it's own, Autochk.exe should be loacated in C:\Windows\System32.

C:\PROGRAM FILES\SILICON PRAIRIE SOFTWARE\MEMTURBO\MEMTURBO.EXE
O4 - Startup: MemTurbo.lnk = C:\Program Files\Silicon Prairie Software\MemTurbo\MemTurbo.exe

I'm not an advocate of memory helpers, particularily when you now have 288MB, you call, I would dump this program. This could be the reason not seeing a significant difference:

I performed the suggested changes to the HJT log and deleted Memturbo. I'm not sure as to what you wanted be to do with the search for Autock.exe. It is included in CFGSAFE. However, doing what I did, I really don't notice a marked improvement in speed, but note that my measure is based on how fast the computer boots back up. It still takes for what seems like forever, to load Windows and I've disabled everything but the anti-virus and firewall software from loading at startup.:(
