I dunno if anyone can help me with this but I'll post anyway...

When my system boots in normal mode, I cant get the mouse or keyboard to work.

The keyboard is fully functional in safe mode but in normal mode before the desktop programs loads, the keyboard lights blink then go off.

The mouse doesn't function in normal mode and in safe mode it only moves up and down.

I'm using my win 95 right now but I need my 98.

Do I need to download new drivers on my 95 and transfer them to my 98 via floppy disk?
or can anyone tell me if anything else could help. If no one has any answers and you know of someone who does or specializes in these matters please send them my way or send me their way.:upset:

did you have any error messages before the problems started? If so What were they?

Welcome :)

In safemode goto Device Manager and Remove the entries for the Keyboard & Mouse.
Then reboot into Normal Mode.

Do you need special Keyboard/Mouse drivers?

I tried ur suggestion and it didn't work...

I don't really know if I need special drivers...

What would determine this?

Actually, it shouldn't matter as they should work with the default windows drivers.

There was a similar post recently, i'll see if I can find the reply with a possible solution.

What brand are the mouse and keyboard, are they just the normal types or wireless, or anything special about them? Did they just come with the computer? Are they usb?

I want to thank you guys for those suggestions but right now the mouse and keyboard are the least of my problem.

I Can't seem to catch a break.

I don't know what happened but my c: drive was erased...

When I boot it says "Starting Windows 98" then goes to the dos prompt

I tried rebooting in Safe Mode, but it still went to prompt.

I type (dir) but it only shows drive space not any directories.

Do I need to reinstall 98 on it or are there any procedures I should try.

Mind you I got the pc from my mom and the place where she got it from didn't give her the recovery cd and no one seems to have a recovery cd for 98 these days.

Will I need to buy the software?

Or does anyone have an extra 98 cd they want to sell?

I'm desperate because I need my pc because I'm learning web design.

Please help... PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!:(

If the bios/dos detects the drive, but the files are gone then you do have a problem.

You could possibly look at second hand/auctions for a 98 CD.

long shot, come to think of it a very long shot, but try replacing your bios battery.
