See if you can log in as "root". During the install, you should of been asked for a root password as well. See if you can Log in as root, if so. Let us know so when can tell you how to change your login screen.

After logging in, you work in the console or you start up x with a window manager.
The last part can prolly be done by:
Code:
startx
without any capitals.

Or, if you have the icewm window manager, start it with the following command:
Code:
X :0&disown && sleep 2s& icewm --display=:0
Or if you're going to use window manager:
Code:
X :o&disown& wmaker -display :0
For gnome:
Code:
X :0&disown&&gnome-session --display :0
If you want to have a single xterm running on x, type this:
Code:
xinit /usr/X11R6/bin/xterm -- :1

And for KDE, most of the time
Code:
startkde
will work. If that doesn't work, rtfm look up the manual of KDE on google.

Mouride,
Let me explain something...
There is a thing as a CONSOLE. and a SHELL. Both things are good with those nifty commands. When 'it' tells you something like...
Code:
:[*@localhost*]$.....
It is READY for a COMMAND.
So here's the thing you've gotta do:
1] Turn on your computer
2] Choose for the DEFAULT option@ the bootloader (the blue screen thingey)
3] Login with the default usernick (or if you dun have that, as root)
4] enter one of the codes I gave you. Try
Code:
startx
first.

You enter that nifty code thing in the console, that thing which says: :[*@localhost*]$......

THEN report back here.
