Apache1

I recently had the misfortune of having to re-install from Disc (Most frightening for me :dizzy: )...Now I find that my Scandisk that used to do 'Thorough' in about one and a half hours, now takes seven hours??......and I only download stuff at about 2.5kbs whereas before it was never below 6.00ish. I've never had a Download Manager of any kind so I assume it ain't that.....sooooo, just wondering if any of you kind peeps might be able to shed some light please...I'm a fairly Newbie and old so be gentle.
My OS is 98se - 550mgs - 30gbs - 128 Ram (Mobo limit) and Dialup....pretty sad eh?  ....Any suggestions gratefully received.......
Regards, Apache 1.

Why did you have to reinstall your operating system? Did you start from scratch with reformating the harddrive then install or just install over the old operating system?

I was having a prob with Win Internet Explorer...to the point where I booted up and was greeted with a Blue screen and a white dialogue box saying IE could not be found and that I should install from disc... which I did...followed every instruction to the letter and lived to tell the tale and here I'am...evrything exactly as it was before the problem except for the Scandisk and D/L doodad...what did I do wrong Dan please?.....or has this nothing to do with the install?
Best Regards, Appache1...AKA Mike....
