Toshiba Sattellite Pro Boot Sequence

Can anybody help please.

I am trying to install Win 2000 pro on to a friends laptop and at present i am unable to install this OS from the CD as i need to change the boot sequence in Bios. However i need some help on entering the BIOS setup on this type of computer and can somebody also help me with the chain of events needed to change the sequence so that Drive D boots first.

I have deleted & created the partition and i have formatted Drive C. All i want the computer to do now is boot from the CD so as the CD containing the OS can start its install.

Hi AJR,

I have moved your topic from the WIN98 forum.

See if the information here is helpful:
Access to CMOS (BIOS) Setup -- instructions for most models. When you access the BIOS setup, look for an option called something like "Boot Device Order" or may be listed as "First Boot Device" then "Second Boot Device", etc.

How to boot your Toshiba PC from CD-ROM, LAN, or Diskette

If you're not successful at changing the boot order so that it boots from CDROM first, hopefully it is set to boot from floppy drive first, as you can still run WIN2K Setup by using a WIN98 startup floppy disk. First, d/load SMARTDRV.zip. Unzip the SMARTDRV.EXE file to a WIN98 startup floppy disk. Boot the computer from the floppy disk, and choose to start WITH CDROM SUPPORT. Put the WIN2K install CD in the drive. At the A: prompt, key in:
smartdrv
<ENTER>
Back at the A: prompt, key in:
<drive letter for CDROM drive>:\i386\WINNT
<ENTER>
Setup should now commence.
