Angry HELP!! pc crashed

my pc crashed, and I installed a new hard drive. now i cannot load an operating system, because the computer tells me: device driver not found: 'mscd001'
no valid cdrom device drivers selected

i set up my bios (im an amateur) to auto detect my cd rom drives, and it does not detect them. the power light comes on, but i dont know whats going on. I have spent about 50 hours trying to get this thing to work. I really hope somebody can help me.

Howdy:

You need a startup floppy.. Go to www.bootdisk.com and download either the Win98SE or WinME bootdisk files.. Just install them onto a floppy disk.

Then, make sure your system is set to boot from the floppy (a: drive) first.. Use the floppy to partition and format the hdd )if it isn't already done) and then reboot making sure the "Run with CD-Ron Support" is the option you pick..

Once everything has installed, change to your cd-rom drive (it will be one drive letter higher than normal), put your Win98 cd in and type setup. Away you go..

What is the jumper setting for the HDD?
Some HDD have different jumper settings if they are Master Single or Master + Slave.

Also, have you tried it as
HDD = Primary Master
CD = Secondary Master

Maybe clearing the CMOS will give it a kick start.

Refer to the Motherboard Manual for full instructions.
