1. Check Speaker wires, make sure they are connected.
2. Do the speaker lights come on indicating power?
3. START | SETTINGS | CONTROL PANEL | MULTIMEDIA

Make sure you Sound Card is listed as the one to use for Playback.

Well it is not the speakers themselves, but their is something wrong either harware wise or some setting has been blown off.

B/c i went into control panel | multimedia. And under my audio tab, everything is greyed out. Meaning that i cant select anything.

One thing to try is to boot to safe mode and delete any entries to a sound card or sound devices from the Device Manager and then reboot into normal mode and see if Win98 sees the card.

Ok, have you tried running DxDiag in run box and select the sound tabs and see what it comes up with?

in safe mode, it is sometimes better to remove all the devices sitting in the related group, for they are oft causing the conflict.
(mind you, the ones in same group )

and, in a group, remove all identical entries when you have multiple entries for same device.

As jtdoom said you should try removing all identical entries when you have multiple entries for sound device. Is this a on-board sound device?

If it is onboard sound, you should be installing the drivers from the motherboard manufacturer.

Hello again saviiour, are you sure you have the latest and right drivers for your card? Just thought double checking it wouldn't hurt.
