windows 95 display

I just got this old computer running and I dunno what display adapter or anything it has. I need some help because I'm only getting 16 colors?

right click on desktop, click on properties, click on settings and see if you can change it there.

it only has Monochrome and 16 colors

are you saying the monitor is a monochrome monitor? If not, still try what I suggested and let us know what happened.

no, when I went to change the colors it only has two options. monochrome and 16 colors. what else can I do? it's a packard bell monitor

i got an old presario 5228 all-in-one that i had to buy from the thrift shop(One of my many addictions)
and it was fine but had too much junk in it so i re-formatted and re-installed MY windows 95- and like..even downlaoding the correct drivers from compaq, driverguide.com,and s3's website didn't help.

the diplay driver is an s3 trio 64v+
i have tried everything!!! help!!! yep only 16 colors..and even when i playa round..and change the driver etc...it will OFFER me 256, true and high color...more resolution etc...but when i change it- poof!! it looks like garbage! no good.
so here im stuck with 16 colors.
how barbaric!!(oh yeah and monochrome-which is basically black and white)
ok- so anyone -WE NEED HELP!!
and if you get any answers here:
please let me know?

try using a newer monitor if possible

my old presario is an "all-in-one" so i cant change the monitor.
after re-formatting i only have 16 colors

there IS other choices but when i try to use those color choices, it doesnt work.
