need help for linux

dear friends
i have one cache on start it didnt give any prompt onle a line runs at boot

lilo loading cache................
then blank screen
and configuration is by webmin

i want make some changes so it need login console

i mount this said cache hdd to my working linux system and recore necessery information but still blind
on boot if press ctrl+x it shows prompt boot:

and for any command like root .single user.adduser any of it reply not found press tab for list
list have only two words
cache
38
on both it start
lilo loading cache...............
then blank screen
shure the system have some os but how to getin for changings
