When trying to run Live Update I am getting the infamous LU1803 error, Sometimes LU1814. I have tried all the recomendations on the Symantec Website other than uninstalling and reinstalling all Symantec product on the system. The system is a Windows 2000 Professional unit running Norton Internet Security & NAV 2003 and at one time everthing did work. I know others have had similar problems and is there anyone who can point me in a direction which will resolve this problem without un-installing & reinstalling all Sysmanted S/W?

Thanks
Roger

Additional Information:

I made sure the systems was not infected by a virus by running a Virus scan.
The copy of Liveupdate was the latest version.
I deleted the enire contents of the ...Liveupdate\downloads directory no effect.
I could not find a hosts file on the system that had the following in it:
www.symantec
securityresponse.symantec.com
symantec.com
liveupdate.symantecliveupdate.com
I deleted the Settings.Liveupdate file.
I deleted the one dll which allowed me to reinstall LU

Thanks
Roger

Have you tried going to Control Panel and open Symantic Liveupdate then choose the express option. Restart the computer and see if that works.

I have had this problem crop up with two clients. The fix was not easy to find on Symantec's site. It involves a corrupt file as far as I remember.

Did the instructions you got on the site ask you do delete any files on your c:\drive?

If not, shoot me an e-mail and I'll search down my solution.

I have since tried Live update in Express mode. I received the same error so I returned to interactive mode (again same problem)

I appreciate your help
Thanks

I know this took a long time to get back to you on, but I misplaced my file on this one. Being in the computer-training/consulting business, we tend to gather a tremendous amount of paper backup. Don't ask me why I don't keep this on the system but I do have info for the real complicated stuff.

At any rate here lies your answer: Follow the steps carefully:

I too have this problem of running liveupdate. All of Symantecs solutions come to nought. For some reason, can't even download the latest lusetup.exe file either. Am keen to see a solution soon.

Thanks

Welcome :)

Take a look at the link posted by Jonesy.

When I've come across similar problems with NAV2001/2003 the best solution was to completely remove NAV using RNAV
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/nav.nsf/docid/2001092114452606

Then install from scratch.
