Howdy, A friend brought over her Dell dimension 800, for me to help her with, why me I have no idea, cause I barely know how to turn one on. HEHE I said. Any how see who who won, she did. Oh well here goes, it has windows Me 128 ram card, sound blaster card, us robotics modem, and a hp dvd/r. When I turn it on, the fan runs, the keyboard blinks twice, I hear one "faint" beep, then the "clunck" sound like it is booting up, then thats all, no lights on keyboard, nothiung at all happens on moniter "i know the moniter is good", checked it with another puter. Took everything from inside out, was very dusty, cleaned it and reinstalled, making sure was tight fit, took out battery, checked it with lil meter, said 2.97 volts, swapped bios jumper to try and reset it, NOTHING. Same thing as before. I took out the H/D, and installed it im another puter, booted up normal, and ran. Put it back in Dell, same thing NOTHING. What should I try next. Like I said, dont know why she brought to me, HE HE> Thanks in advance, Bullfrog

maybe the motherboard is burnt or something is definately wrong. It is not the Hard drive and the monitor. At least we found that out. Do not email dell. They will just say, "Oh, just run dell diagnostics and everything will be okay! Wee! Hey Amit, grab me another coffee." I exaggerrated on the coffee part, but the diagnostics is true. Trust me. I've emailed Dell a dozen times and all they said was DELL DIAGNOSTICS!

Howdie, What can I get, as in a new mobo, or what parts do ya'll think I should try to get? Or should I jus tell her to go and get a whole new puter? She is jus goin thru a divorce and money is kinda tite at the moment, so any advice ya'll could give me would greatly be appreciated. Thanks Bullfrog
