Hi to all,
I am having trouble with my DVD wrighter. I have bought some game and once I install them it tells me to insert the CD in. The problem is the CD is already in the drive. I am running Windows Xp and yes the are the original CD's. My friend told me that it might be becoes of some privicacy thing were the CD is not detected if it is a wrighter, is this correct? If so it seems I need to buy just a CD reader.
If someone could help would be great.
Thx:blush:

Welcome to CTH dorato. What is the name of the game that you are having problems with? Does your drive detect other CD's OK?

Sry for not including the games, these are the games I am having trouble with; C&C Generals, Uru, Rising Nations. My other games work fine such as Warcraft 3 and Diablo 2.
I will also give my specs if it help, I have a athlon 2600 XP, running Windows XP Pro, 1Gb corsair ram, 9800 Radion and my Sony DVD Dual Writer. I hope this help.
Thx for your help.

Hi again dorato - try installing the SafeDisc patch from here (http://www.macrovision.com/products/safedisc/downloads.shtml) and see if it helps. Also make sure that you are logged in with Admin permissions when you play these games.

Thx for the reply,
I tryed downloading that program and it still did not help.
In the end I got a CD reader only and installed it. Suprise suprise it worked, I know that burning games and that are bad but at least if I go out and buy a game can it at least work properly!
Any way if anyone is having trouble playing a game and they have the original CD try installing a CD reader with your CD/DVD writer and use the CD reader. It worked for me.
Just wondering if you have a laptop does it work for them or are the games specialy made so it works on laptops??

Hi dorato - thanks for updating us and posting back the fix. It's a pity that you had to spend more money just to play the games though. I cant answer your question regarding laptops but perhaps someone else can.

Give more info about your laptop because some videocards in laptop cannot handle games. Also are the games you are trying to run on original cd's?

hey Renegade600,
I think you misunderstood my question. My problem is already fixed. I was just wondering what would happen if a laptop user had the problem i had or maybe they have separate driver or something?
Anyway thx for helping out guys.

That was the question I was trying to answer. It is difficult to answer without more info. Your problem was never really that clear especially since you were using pirated software.

Hey,
I am sry renegade600 if I offended you in anyway. I cant give you any more detail on the laptop hardware as I dont have a laptop. If you read the the question from the start you would of understood what I ment. And the software I use is not pirated that is why I got it to work once I installed a CD reader.
Please except my apoligy as I did not mean anything towards you.
