Can one record Text Chat "Conversations"?

Dear friends:

Can text chat programs like AIM or ICQ or Yahoo record text "conversations" as a text file? Can they produce a transcript of text conversations?

a log is created. Not sure where it would be since I am not using the full programs (I use trillian) but you can search for log files within the im folder.

Hi Delphi,

I found my MSN Messenger logs in My Documents>My Received Files>Then a folder with your IM username (and loads of digits!)>History, and in here it logs each 'chat' under each of the persons user handle you've been 'chatting' with!

Thanks so much for the detailed report. That's just what I needed to know. My purpose is to log the conversations of our collaborative discussions (with their permission, of course) and enter them into our forum.
