Hello Everybody,

Well, this is my first post here, so I'll start by saying hello:wave:

Been lurking here for some time, picking up loads of useful info along the way, but this time I'm really stuck.

Spent yesterday setting up my new wireless LAN, here's the equipment

WinXPPro desktop, Belkin wireless Modem/Router ADSL, WinXPHome laptop, Belkin wireless network card.

The desktop is hardwired into the modem router with CAT5.

After a few teething troubles with IP addresses and DNS I have both machines happily browsing the net, and sending/receiving e-mail.

My problem is with file/printer sharing.

The desktop can see the laptop within My Network places, but can't access it (error message about network authorisation)

The laptop can't see the desktop at all.

The Router can see both machines.

I can ping the router and laptop from the desktop machine, but only the router from the laptop.

I have excellent signal strength (machines & router in the same room for the time being)

Any ideas? I've done all evening tonight, and made it no better at all:upset:

Thanks in advance for any help you guys can give,

Carlos:goulet:

Hi there, I'm new too and had a similar problem. After looking around the internet, I found a reference to the XP firewall. I disable the Firewall built into XP, on both machines, and could then share folders/printers.

Best of luck
