i need serious help with this, please.... so my computer turns on fine, and even makes the little sound when it comes on. But then the taskbar comes on for 1 second and dissappears... then the only thing i see is the background and the mouse arrow. Also, the task manager does not have "Explorer" in it, the only thing on there is "Mdm". i dont know what to do and im posting this from work since i cant do anything on my comp. :upset:
thank you.

When did this start happening?
Can you boot into Safemode?

i last used my comp on friday until yesterday.
i can boot into safe mode if i press F5 when it is starting up, but the only difference is that the corners say "safe mode" and the first thing to come on is "help & support" which i went through so much yesterday and it didnt help.... then when i close H&S, it's exactly as i mentioned ealier, nothing there but the taskbar does come on for one second.

Boot into Safemode and let Help & Support load.
Then choose to run System Restore.

See if you can restore your PC to Friday or before.

where will i find this system restore option?
is any of my data going to be lost?

It should be on the Help & Support page.

If not goto
Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>

It will only remove programs installed after that restore point.

So if you can restore to Friday then any software installed after Friday will be removed.

I guessing that you used SCANREG /RESTORE instead of System Restore.

Glad you got it working :)
