Intermittent Signal

I am using a linksys four port router ((BEFSR41 version 3) to link a WinXP and Win98 computer to the internet with high speed cable. It works for a while then the signal drops off and I can't log on. I have to regularly upplug and replug both the cable modem and router to get it to work.

I reset the MTU to 1460 but the same result. Any ideas?
