Connection Icons in tray

I have two XP pro's on my network. On the client I sometimes get two sets of icons in the tray and other times,one set. Should I have two,if so how to keep them there.Or should there only be one set.Internet connection is ok.

My thoughts would be that one is your local network connection and the other is your internet connection.

Basically the icons are toggled on and off by going to network connections in control panel right clicking properties and an option will be there to "Show icon in notification area when connected".

I recommend having the internet connection icon activated but the local network connection icon off.
