Connection by USB... I saw the serial port... but don't have the cable for it. As for the driver, my sister said that she downloaded the most recent drivers... but...~shrugs~

JMF, I do suppose it may not work.
I think it maybe that the scanner does not work with ME. Here's an update of what I tried to do... Platform: XP Browser IE6 on a ME laptop. Scanner: Microtek ScanMaker 4800 - Driver is 5.79 and upgraded to 5.9 Memory is 40 G and AMD is 64 Athlon Has MS Office2000 Problem is: Scanner won't show on the C: drive when it's plugged in. When I reboot, the computer won't start. If I disconnect the USB, then the laptop will boot up. When I plug in the USB, then click on the scanner, I don't get any kind of screen for that program. So I tried to shut it down, I get this message... Program not responding, still want to shut down? Same goes for Microtek Scanner Detector 2.0 - Program not responding... Help... |

There is definitely some type of USB problem here. Can you give some more details regarding the Laptop itself? Make, model, etc. Do you have another piece of hardware you can try in that port, such as a USB printer, mouse...? |
