Netscape errors--profiles screwed up;)
Hello Again CTHer's
![]() I guess I'm making very good use of my 'donation'---you/CTH really don't ask for enough--what you give is worth faaaaaarrrrr more than 5 bucks! Anyway, I have a new problem with Netscape and got the following error message when trying to launch it: Syntax Error: RDF escritption:about="chrome://messenger/content/messenger.xul#senderorRecipientCol" Sounds like it could be a virus or something maybe in my temporary internet files( ?)but I scanned with Nortons and deleted temp files and got nothing/nowhere.... Any clue? Netscape still loads, but it acts like I've just newly installed it rather than having all my profile info like it should I have 3 profiles set up and it does the same thing for all 3 of them![]() Any help would be greatly appreciated....thanks! hmac13

It looks like there is a problem with the script that runs NS.Maybe a reinstall will fix it.This was all I could find relating to your error msg on the net.

Unlikely (but not impossible) to be malware in netscape... What's your homepage set to? It sounds like some content provider has got their code wrong

Homepage Setting....
Hi Steven and Pancake,
Steven asked what my homepage was set to--I never did set it, so it would have to have been the default homepage set by Netscape--I think it was a "My Netscape" type thing(also never bothered personalizing ![]() Don't know if that helps any...? I guess it would have to be Netscape that has the coding wrong then...but that doesn't seem likely to me either I think I recall when this started happening--I was launching Netscape and the 'choose profile' dialog box appeared as usual, but when I clicked on the profile I wanted to use...I actually missed the linked text and clicked just outside of it(I was in a hurry, as usual . Netscape still loaded, but none of my passwords, etc. were automatically filled in like they normally would be. I closed Netscape and ever since then I've been getting the error message right when the 'choose profile' dialog box appears--I click 'ok' on the only option that's available and Netscape loads--but without any of my profile info. Thanks! hmac13

My feeling on that error message is that it's the equivalent to a Scripting error popup in an RDF file, so probably nothing to worry about.

Relief...but..?
Hi Steven,
Thanks for your input....that's a relief, at least I was concerned that it was some kind of malware/spyware type thing that may have been trying to get my profile info/passwords or whatever....so knowing this does give me some relief from those worries![]() However, is there anything you can suggest that would fix the error ---without losing the profile info, passwords, etc. that I've previously stored?? Or am I going to have to re-install Netscape and start all over again with the profile info?? Thanks for any help you can give me ![]() hmac13
