aol help

I also had the same experience with AOL9 after a long time of usage, but I was able to use AOL8. I contacted customer support and was told to check my Norton firewall settings for everything that AOL needs. I was not able to get it to work. I removed AOL9 and re-installed from a cd and it quit working after a couple of their updates. I then disabled my Norton firewall and was able to sign on. Norton was due to expire so I removed Norton and installed EZ-Trust Armor that Road Runner is offering to customers. I have not had any problems since. I hope my experience may help you in solving your problem.

found it

had same problem: AOL error 24-00-28-006 when using "working cable connection".
Thought it was Norton 2005; disabled but no help.
It appears AOL did not detect my cable.

Fix: When you get the error message go to the setting icon in AOL tool bar then "Connectivity Settings" a Settings window opens; go to "expert setup" then "add device".

Hi

A damaged connection service file can cause this problem.
I’m using aol 9 with xp and the following is the repair sequence:

Sign off from aol. Goto start>control panel. Ensure you are in classic view by clicking on the classic view button. Open add/remove programs and choose aol connectivity service, choose add/remove, then choose repair. Restart the computer.

Sign on to aol and let the modem be detected again. Confirm the modem type and access numbers and you should be returned to the sign on screen.

Clear redundant art files.

Close aol and goto start>all programs>aol>aol system information. Choose the utilities tab, select quick restore, select proceed, choose ok, relaunch aol.
