Hi I'm a newbie who hit a problem with Netscape Mail 7.0 using windows XP
A very large section of my inbox (which currently contains almost 3000 mails) has become blank. I can read new emails coming in but none older than a day or two ago. The problem started when I downloaded 500 emails, mostly spam, at once. I can see the mail subject lines etc in the top window, but in the bottom half as I pass the last readable mail the text part is blank and the header details stay the same as the last good mail I looked at. I went to the profiles directory and found the Inbox file which is 70MB large, so I think all the old material is still there. I opened it and tried to read it in Word and Word Perfect and Wordpad but all of them only went up to a certain recent point and no further. I believe there may be some kind of "end of file" marker in the Inbox file, but I can't get the full Inbox file to edit it and save it as ascii text, without this marker (assuming I knew what the marker was). Has anyone come across this problem and know how to fix it? I have 760MB or RAM so there should not be a memory problem dealing with the file. If I create a new inbox, what basic text reading program could I use to read the old one so that I can still access old emails? Any help gratefully received, Paul Harrison |

Hi Paul, welcome to CTH
One possible solution is to create a new Netscape profile and then import your file back into that new profile
