Angry explorer has caused an error...

Whenever I tryto type a web address into my Internet Explorer, once I press Go, a message comes up saying "Explorer has caused an error in <unknown>" Occasionally, when i don't do anything, suddenly.. "MMTASK has caused an error in ______." THen, after that I can type in web addresses again. Are these things related and...if so, how do I get rid of it?

This would likely be better asked in the Browser forum. Perhaps one of the moderators here can move it?

Hmm this one doesn't appear to have been moved but it is in the Browsers forum

What version of Internet Explorer are you running, and have you got the latest service pack for it?

Wait..now that error message comes up almost every time i boot up my computer. My computer runs normally for about a minute, then "Explorer has caused an error in <unknown>. Explorer will now close." Then, after I click close, it seems as if the desktop and toolbar refreshes, then it comes up again, infinite times.
So...it's no longer a browser issue. And i ran several virus scans. I quarintined/deleted anything I could.
SOme other programs are being affected by this <unknown> too. I can't run system restore. I'm not sure if i can use any of the system tools at all. AIM is affected, I can't use it. And now, my boot sector [i think] is infected.
