You need to wire both pcs into the router. I asssume you have NIC cards in each pc. and if it is a 4 port router then use any 2 of the 4 to plug your wires into the router.
Do you know how to share files?
Also, you will have to open your Windows Explorer and go to Tools-Folder Options and towards the bottom you will find a line that says "Simple File Sharing" - Uncheck the box and close the windows.
Do you have an internet connection and do you know how to connect? What type of connection do you have?
There is lots to know to finish!

Alright, thanks for the reply. The PC I'm using right now is running windows 2000 pro and has a cable connection. I'd like to know how to set it up so my other comp on window XP can connected to this computer to get internet access, since I only have one cable modem and can't move it from this room.
Thanks

So, I still am not sure what you have for hardware.
Do you have a cable modem coming into the house?
Are the 2 boxes in different rooms?
Is the router a wireless or a wired router?
Do you have network cards in the 2 computers?
This Linksys website gives the basics on networking - maybe looking at it will help you get started.
