Hi,

What OS?
What kind of Internet Connection?
What ISP?

Run Virus Scan
Run a Spyware scan - Read this first http://www.cybertechhelp.com/forums/...ad.php?t=37546

did anyone figure this out?

I have a brand new machine...I even just did a system restore.

Windows XP SP2, IE 6.0.2900, Cable Modem...actually to my LinkSys hub then to the modem. All other computers running Win2000 work fine.

Ran AdAware...but again...doesn't matter cuz it even happens right after I do a restore.

I've turned off cookies as well.

Anyhow, if I open up a bunch of sites...Yahoo Mail, Hotmail etc... after a few minutes, browsers can't connect anymore. I can ping sites via Command Prompt...but browsers get a "Page cannot be displayed"

If I reboot, it works fine for a few minutes.

Any ideas?

I'm having this same kind of problem and the Comcast cable guy came out and told me that they've been seeing this problem more and more. He said it's the Service Pack 2 of XP. He tells people to revert back.

This didn't help me because I'm running Windows ME. He said something like the IP address gets wiped out everytime the modem and router talks to eachother.

Now I'm not an expert by no means so don't try anything drastic by my comments but you might want to call your cable provider to see if they've heard about this.

I have a Netgear router and I'm beginning to think I should try a different router.

For the XP problem, read the information on this page. Then follow the link to download the fix for XP SP2's "Limited or no connectivity" problem. I was having the same on again/off again connection. I applied that fix several weeks ago and haven't had any trouble since.
