Welcome :)
Boot into Safemode and see if you can get the programs working.
Where about does system restore fail?
Is it gives a message that it could not restore then you probably have a corrupt restore folder.
You can disable system restore, then re-enable it. (you will loose currently saved restore points).

What Operating System?

Thank you for getting back to me so quickly .....I am sorry but I am not certain as to how to boot to safe mode...I am using XP home....
As far as for system restore.....it will go all the way thru even restarts system than says restore incomplete....and makes no changes.
System info is in my profile....if you need additonal information for that.
Thanks again....Fancey:dizzy:

Hi,
To get into Safemode restart the PC and tap the F8 key before the Windows Splash Screen.
Choose Safemode from the menu.
When in safemode see if you can open Internet Explorer.
Note, that you won't beable to connect to the net.
If you want to do that then choose Safemode + Networking
It would seem that your Restore is Corrupt.
Goto Control Panel>System>System Restore.
Choose to Turn Off System Restore. Then Apply.
Then re-enable it.
(you will loose any restore points).

Hi,
After you save the log just open it in Notepad and copy & paste it.
Paste to a new thread though. Don't paste into the link i posted.
It will just get moved, because that is a sticky tutorial thread.

Try this (stolen directly from the ElderGeek, BTW :)):
From the Start menu, select Search, select All Files and Folders.
Select 'More Advanced Options' and place a checkmark beside Search Hidden Files and Folders option.
Ensure that Search System Folders and Search Subfolders are also checked.
In the All or Part of the File Name box, type ie.inf
In the Look In drop-down menu, select C: or the letter of the hard drive that contains the Windows folder.
Click the Search button.
In the search results pane, find the ie.inf file located in Windows\Inf folder.
Right click the ie.inf file and click Install on the context menu.
Reboot the computer when the file copy process is complete.

Fanceyface - you are running two threads (http://www.cybertechhelp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=42332) concurrently. This doesnt actually help you, it just duplicates effort and time by our members. I have just checked your last log in the Cyber Safety Forum and you still have malware running. Let's stick with that one until we clean up your log.
