Defrag and scan keep starting over

I can not defrag or scan my computer. When I try it keeps starting over and over. It says to shut down all files by using the Ctrl, Alt, and Delete keys. There are 2 things that will not close and they are Wtoolsa and Wsup. I have run spybot and adware and I still have the same problem. Can someone please help me with this. My computer is running slow with a lot of lag. I am new and I don't know anything about computers, but I do know I have a problem. I have run a hijackthis log and will post it if need be. Thank you

Welcome

It's always recommended to Run those in Safemode.
It stops any Windows services interfering.

To boot into safemode, restart the PC and tap the F8 key before the Windows splash screen.

You may want to post in the Cyber Safety forum about the other problems.

The programes that are not closing are WinTools.I would advise removing it as it is a trouble maker and part malware.Removal instuctions here:

Not sure how you know that, but I have found ScanDefrag to be helpful in accomplishing what degsy recommended.

Howdy:

All it takes is a search to find out "how he knows that" !!! WinTools is a variant of HuntBar - a NASTY spyware program !!!

http://www.pchell.com/support/wintools.shtml

Get rid of WinTools or you will have more problems than you bargained for !!!

Murray

I was curious as to how he knew the OP's problems were related to Win Tools. My Crystal Ball is broken at the moment.

The two programs mentioned in your first post are part of WinTools.. the nasty part.. They will lock your system so they can keep broadcasting their info !!

That's why Safe Mode will normally work as all unneeded drivers/programs are disabled in Safe Mode..
