I just recently reformatted my hard drive. I reinstalled Windows ME along with McAfee VirusScan 7.0 Home Edition and drivers for all of my hardware. Nothing has any conflicts, and my computer doesn't have any viruses. However, every time I try to copy or move anything on the computer from other files on the hard drive or from a CD or a floppy, I get this error:

Explorer has caused an error in <unknown>.
Explorer will now close.

If you continue to experience problems,
try restarting your computer.

Needless to say, restarting will do absolutely nothing. Once I get that error, the file usually will not move (sometimes it does but it might be corrupt or otherwise damaged in some way). The strange thing is, sometimes it will work just fine. It usually does not work, though, and I can't restore my backups from my CDs with the error coming up when I try to copy the backups onto my computer. I know the error message doesn't say much, but can anyone help me? Thanks.

After you reinstalled, did you upgrade IE to v6 and apply all the critical updates?

Yeah, my VirusScan was a little messed up at first and it was causing a few errors, but I went onto the McAfee site as well as a few other forums and I was able to fix that problem. After I did that, I upgraded all of the critical updates but I still had the problem of explorer shutting down.
