graphic display problems

the pc:
amd k6-2 300
7 gig hd
192 ram
win98
ctx 17" monitor

changes:
upgraded to ME

problems:
the elsa winner II (agp) would crash if set beyond 16 colors 640 x 480
found no drivers at elsa sight for ME. i would have to hard boot to get it back.
so (figured the card and ME dont mix)
we put in a nVidia TnT2 M64 16MB 4X AGP
loaded drivers

result:
the drivers took fine. still can't go beyond 16 colors. look in properties and everything looks fine.

could it be i need dif drivers for the ctx monitor?
