linux slackware printing problem
I've seen these problems everywhere but none of the answers worked.
I'v been trying to configure a Lexmark Z605(usb) printer to work on linux slackware, but nothing seems to work. If I try to use lpadmin, I get a connection refused error. If I try to go to http://localhost:631/, i get an error: "Could not connect to host localhost (port 631)" If I try to add it through printing manager in kde, it doesn't let me add a normal printer only a psuedo printer, and it recires the location, and im not sure what that is. Also I know it detects my printer because if i go to an info center in kde it shows up. Also, If i try to print something using any program in kde, where it asks u to select the print system(ie: cups, etc), and if you chose cups an error occurs while tring to retrieve the printer list. please help -blitz |

Blitz...This is indeed a problem, If slack can see the printer but not print with it then you may indeed have a driver problem. You may want to take a look at see if any drivers for your printer have been written and use the newest driver you can find. I am also looking into this problem but an in a rush atm. I will post back a for sure answer when I get a bit more time.
