View Full Version : Unable to copy files from network

Whenever I try to copy files from the network, my computer completely hangs. No mouse movement, keyboard frozen, video stuck; the only way to turn it off is to hold the power button down. I am running XP Pro, NIC is 10/100/1000 Intel integrated into LAN Party 875B mobo. I have tried disabling Simple File Sharing, but it didn't help. Any suggestions??

Edit: This can happen when trying to transfer only one file, or when trying to transfer several gigs and it is completely random in terms of file types when it crashes.

Hello, Will2041!

Once (long ago) I experienced something like this.

But the computer was not actually frozen, it was heavily down to the point to get a network connection or, perhaps, retransmiting packets. It could continue trials for several minutes, though.

To be short, we tried a new patch cord and the issue never showed back.

Can you connect your computer using another patch cord? And, if this yield no result, how about connecting it to another LAN point (with an working patch cord)?

But note: all this supposing you are sure there are not any virus in your network.

Regards.
