Help replacing modem on IBM Thinkpad 600E

I was able to replace the modem on my desktop computer after a lightening strike but unsure about the 600E laptop. Not sure if this is something I can do or should leave it to a pro, especially having never taken a laptop apart -- not even sure where all the screws are. If you have any suggestions how to proceed, please let me know. If you know of any repair manuals on the Web, please let me know the links.
