i am trying to network 2 computers together.I just got a Linksys router and both computers are online.Host computer is a desktop and the second is a laptop both running WIN98SE.After some hit and miss both computers are up and running and doing well.My problem is setting up the network.Does WIN98SE come with a network wizard setup or is there a website you can point me to that can "hold my hand" and walk me through setting up my network.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Windows 98 should have a network wizard. Check in Control Panel, go Start, Settings, Control Panel and there should be a network wizard there.

Also try this site, got some tutorials on networking: http://www.wown.com/articles_tutorials/win98.html

Hope this helps

for some reason i did not find any kind of network wizard in control panel. But none the less I now can get my #2 computer to see my #1 computer(host).the #2 computer is my laptop.i can get into the files i am sharing on #1 and i can print from #2(printer is on #1).But for some reason #1 can not see anything about the files i am sharing on computer #2.In fact as far as #1 is concerned there are no more computers hooked up to the network even though i have full access to computer #1 through computer #2.

Sorry mate don't really have much knowledge in networking, but you have both computers networked up and running so its a start.

Well i have everything up and running now.The answer was rather simple.#2 computer was logged on to the network but computer #1 was not.DUH!!!!

To fix this was simple enough.Start>Logoff.....It then brings up a window asking if you really want to logoff. If you click YES then it brings up the login window so you can login to the network.
