View Full Version : need HELP Please with Data source object exploit

Hi,..Hope someone can help me with this one PLEASE...I was told to Post the hijackthis in the Cyber safety forum but I cant find it...

The problem I'm having is that every time I run Spybot-Search&Destroy it will come up with " Data Source object exlpoit " 1 entries ..When I open it , it say
" HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows "

I have run AD-aware , hoping this would take care of it but it didn't..Spybot still comes up with the same object....They fix the problem but everytime I run Spybot again it comes up with the same object...

You need to remove this program.But first turn off your Restore ,reboot after removing the file and then try SpyBot and Adaware.Let me know it works.

Thank you for your Help....I have 1 problem :blush: ,I don't know how to remove this program....I have never done this...Can you please help me on this and tell me how to do it...I do know how to turn off System Restore,I know I have to reboot after that but do I run HijckThis after that and than check mark that program and will it tell me to remove this program ???

All you have to do id to go into you Program files and find the folder called Backweb.Right click on it and hit Delete in the drop down menu.You could also look in Control Panel/Add Remove and see if it is listed in there..if it is not there dont worry just do it the other way.You wont need to run hijack this for this operation...

I know I'm a pain but I hope you forgive me........
I did got rid of the Backweb folder...I did it in the ADD/Remove.....I ran Spybot and Adaware.....Spybot still came up with the same DOD exploid and 1 entries " HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows "

I don't know what to do now...Would really appreciate for some more advise & suggestions....Thank you again for the help you had given me.....

Its pointing to a left over file part in the registry.It will not cause a problem.I will work on how to remove it for you.Did you try to remove the entry from spybot ?.

Thank's for getting back with me again on my problem.....I did removed the entry's from spybot but it came right back again when I ran spybot afer a reboot...It was again only one entry , the same one that is coming up on each scan...
I really do appreciate you trying to find a solution for me how to remove it :happy: .....I am sure glad that it wont cause a problem on the pc....

And now for the good news.AnneMarie informs me the exploit you are getting is a problem with SpyBot its a bug. Im not sure what version you have but it might pay to look for an updated one and hope that they have fixed the bug...

Hi .
The last one you took out will need to be reinstalled.Can you go to the last backup file in the hjt folder and reinstall it....

I don't know how to re-install that file the one you told me to take out : 021-SSODL: AUHook- {BCBCD383-3E06-11D3-91A9-00C04F68105C} - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\AUHOOK.DLL.....It had saved itself in a folder on the desktop....Can you please explain it to me how to go about to re-install it....I know I'm a pain :( in not knowing how to do things like that..Please forgive me and thank you for the help....

I also like to ask you ; should I un-install and re-install spybot or do I have the right version from that ..I had it posted in my last post...

Well ,I was able to put the file back in to it again..I run the hijt and went in to config and there it was..I had to click on the file and than restore,after that I run another log and it was in there....Wowww , I'm learning everyday more...Can't believe I actually did this by myself...At least I hope I did it right..
