Wireless Netowrk- Internet is fine but cant access printer and shared files

Hello All,

I am having a time trying to access network folders on my network. The computers involved are: a desktop (where dsl is connected- hardwired), and 2 laptops. All 3 are running Win XP Pro. I think the problem started when I traveled with my laptop to a hotel and used the Wifi there. For some reason now, it has never been the same since. When I called the router company (Belkin) they said it sounds like the TCP/Ip has been corrupted and I should reinstall it. When I called the wireless card company (D-Link) they said the same thing. I did reinstall it and still nothing.

Even now, to get internet access, I boot up and right click the icon in the icon tray go to Open Network Connections, then I right click and go to the properties on the Wireless Connection icon, and go to "Wireless Connections" and unclick the box that says, Use Windows to configure my settings" then click it again, because unless I do that I cant get internet access. As for network access, I think I have tried everything.

Can anyone help with this problem?

XP seems to be the hardest OS to network. Be sure under Folder Options that at the bottom of the list you UNCHECK "Simple File Sharing" that seems to be the key. Also be sure you have File & Print Sharing checked in the LAN settings in Network Places.
