newbie with a question

hello to all. a newbie and one not well versed in much about computers but i vowed to learn which is why i joined.

question-all of a sudden yesterday, i clicked onto a link from a site and it appeared in a new page but in a minimized form. i now have to click on the maximize box in order to enlarge the new page for me to read it. this doesn't happen when i stay within a particular site, only when i go through a site and try to reach an outside link. any ideas what went wrong and how to fix.

sorry if this question is a stupid one but when you are learning, it seems all the questions are stupid.

any help would be greatly appreciated. this is driving me nuts and trying normal channels to fix this makes needle hunting seem easy.

Welcome to CTH

If I understand correctly you are saying everytime you open a link that opens into a new window, it comes up in a really small box and you want it to open in a big box everytime? If so this is a common problem with IE:

First, close all open IE windows, then launch IE again.
Right-click on any link and choose Open in New Window.
Resize the resulting secondary window to the size you want for all secondary windows.
Now close the window by holding the Shift key and clicking the X icon in its top-right-hand corner.
Set the remaining window to the size you want IE to have when initially launched, and close it in the same way.

thank you for taking the time to help me out. very kind of you and it is a nice introduction to this site. i am a member of a guitar forum and people there are also generous with their advice to help a person trying to learn. refreshing to see kindness to strangers.

you properly characterized my problem and i will try to apply your remedy tomorrow.

thanks again.

Alright I hope you continue to come back to CTH.
If what I said doesn't work for you say something and someone else will figure out what is wrong.
