I have a few questions about web-design and copyright material.

1. What happens if I put a .jpg image on my site and do not know it's has a copyright? I've put on my site that I'll take it off if I unknowingly have one on there.

2. I want to put some music in the background. I've purchased the cd. Will I violate copyright laws by putting the music in the "background". It can't be downloaded, so is that ok?

3. Does anyone know where to download a .wma converter maybe to .avi or .wav. I need to find one to put the music on the site. I know there are tons but figure I'd check with you all first on this.

Well, that's it! Thanks for any help!

1) If you took an image from a site I suggest simply asking the owner of the site politely if you can use the image on your site.

2) This would be most likely illegal. I am no lawyer but by buying a cd you are sort of buying a liscense for you to listen to it for your own personal use. The music company would probably not like you putting the music on your website.

3) If you are talking about a full length song you have to remember that will take ages to load on a slow internet connection no matter what format you have it in.

Hope This Helps.

If you can then see if you can contact the owner.
If the image is Public Domain then you should be ok.
Also, you message should suffice.

I would agree that it would probably be illegal to use your CD music as background music.

even if the image is public domain, does not mean it is not copyrighted and you can use it. Be warying of any images.
