Router slows down web pages

Recently we got 802.11b and sometimes the router PC is really slow loading webpages. On the client computer I was running skype and counter-strike. Is this what is causing the slowness. I've been told its supposed to be a little bit slower but the slowness the router PC is experincing is bad. What can I do to fix this.

Well first lets figure out if it is a physical problem. How far away is the computer from the router? Are your walls extra thick or concrete? Do you have a metal framed home?

You could try testing for packet loss:

Tell us what it says.

My computer is upstairs in my room while the router PC is downstairs. The distance is about 20 ft. We just have regular walls.
