Hi! Has anyone seen "180 search assistant" alert in ME whenever SpyBot is run??
What should be done about it? What does it do?

There are two options:

1) re-install 180 search assistant so that your programs will run as expected which requires internet connectivity and just how do you reinstall it? or

2) leave it un-installed and clean up any 180 search assistant files or settings that remain.
What does it do, or prevent?

Thanks in advance.

First off Welcome to CTH:)

I think what is happening is that spybot sees 180 search assistant as spyware and partially removes it. Then the serach assistant sees that it has been partially removed and wants to reinstall itself. I'd choose #2 and run another spybot scan, unless you use the search assistant. (if you don't know what it is, you probably don't use it)

Thanks, enat66. This file name wasn't found on a friend's Win 98. Is it an ME
thing? or with an installed program??

Hi
There is a bug in SpyBot that is causing this and they hope to get it fixed in the next version...just ignore it.
