I've had this problem before. Not very knowledgeable in the driver area of computers. I had a friend that I wiped down his Dell Laptop and then loaded Win98 on it. Loaded fine except the screen was small with a black line around it. I finally figured out how to expand the window to full screen, but then the icons looked wierd....not crisp and clear. They said they would take it to someone that knew more than me about drivers. Now I have a problem with my sister's machine that she got built at this one store. She got a virus and we wiped it down because she wanted to go back to Win98 from 2K. That's all good except the CD doesn't have the drivers for nice crisp icons and the screen colors are 256 colors with 800 x 600 pixels on the screen size and no other selection. Is it monitor drivers or video drivers that would change this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi LadyScot101,
Your sister probably needs to update her video drivers, not monitor drivers. If she doesn't have the CD or floppy that has those drivers, she can go to the video card manufacturer's website (or motherboard manufacturer's website, if it's onboard video) and d/load the most recent drivers in order to install them.
