Which distro to get for a newbie

Hey everybody, after being on these forums for a while and learning more about computers and stuff I've decided to try linux. When my computer crashed I reinstalled XP and made a 9gig partion for linux. Which distro should I get though, I've heard Mandrake and Redhat are good, although whatever's easiet to learn/use I'll try.

Neither are really that easy to learn. You really need to be interested and dedicated to learn them.

I highly recomend you get Mandrake or Redhat. But, if you do get redhat it will need to be v9... The newest available isn't for home use, so You most likely would be very disappointed. I'd go with Mandrake. I had much better luck with it and it was alot easier to find my way around it.

What do you think of this?
I had Mandrake 9.2 then changed to Fedora (red hat) core 2 recently.
Mandrake was fine but I do not like Fedora so much and I do think it is very newbie friendly.

I am looking at Suse 9.1 personal use. Love to get some knowledgable opinion before I get the system installed.
Happy days!!
