If you can, please post the whole filename, if it contains more than one extension.

Like : whatever.htm.exe or something similar.

Also if you can post here what is written on the body of the e-mail.

Perform an updated antivirus sweep on your system.

Most of the viruses get spread via one's address book, that means that one of your friends might have a virus and it found your address somehow now it is trying to propagate.

As far as i know .htm, .html files , or hyper text markup language document, do not hold any malicious codes, however if there is more than one extension on the file, like the one that i described up, there might be a different story.

Delete it, do not pass go, do not open, get rid of it. HTML files can carry major problems. When you open them, any script within the file or called by the file will open and run. In other words, they can carry malicious codes.

I did a basic search for ATT00063.htm and it gave me a page with the same filename but it had a picture on it.

ATT00063.htm

Anyway if you're reciving them regularly, i would agree with renegade600 on this one.

It would be taking a risk oppening them.

Some one can take over one's computer by embedding activex or various scripts on .htm, .html and such pages.
