Question How to get rid of icons on bottom tool bar

Hi all!!! I have Windows 95 and deleted several programs from my harddrive, but still getting the icons to appear on the bottom tool bar (next to the clock). Any ideas on how to stop them from appearing everytime I boot up?

Thanks, Deb

Hi Deb, welcome to CTH.
Enat - msconfig is not available in Win95.

Deb, how exactly did you "delete" the programs? You should always UNINSTALL, never DELETE.

Easiest way is to re-install and then uninstall the programs and this should remove their icons.
Otherwise, can you tell us what programs they are and we may be able to help manually removing them properly.

Icons

Thanks for your reply. The 2 icons that I'm having trouble removing are from an old scanner, that I know longer have and a program called "Gathersburg Weather Bug". I went to Task bar and hit "remove" to get rid of them. They don't show up anywhere on my hard drive. I no longer have the scanner software, so I can't remove it that way.

Any ideas??? Thanks, Deb

Question Icons on bottom task bar

Haven't heard back from anyone on what to do to get rid of those icons. One is a scanner, that I don't even have connected to my puter anymore and the other is Gaithersburg WeatherBug. I removed them by going to Task Bar properties and clicked on Remove. I don't see them anywhere else in my system. HELP please!!!

Hi Deb,

Are the offending icons on the left or right hand side of the taskbar?

Sorry Deb, I've been away. Not like me to leave you hanging like that.
Download Startup Control panel from here:
http://www.onlythebestfreeware.com/p...?program_id=82
and you should be able to rid yourself of the problem.

p.s. alaa - msconfig is not available in Win95.
