 I am trying to install my slave drive and its read by the comp (i think) cuz i get that 5th opt in that start up disk menu. I am using that tutorial on this site "How to Install A Second Hard Drive as a Slave Drive in Win98" and when i ge up the the step where you are creating the partition and it says "Create Extended Dos Partition" at the top and it askings me to type in a percent... It only alows me to put in 16% wile the tutorial says you have to put in 100%... sooooo i have no idea what this means, much less understand whats happening. PLZ help me and on a side note. If and When i install the slave drive can i install programs on the slave drive and it will still work? or is it for storage use only?

Using a start up disk go into Fdisk, delete all the partitions displayed. Then create a new one with 100% usage. Restart the system, and the in command prompt, type "format z:" (z being the letter of you drive). After you format the drive, make sure you place the jumpers in the slave position, and in the bios just put "AUTO" for slave, leaving everything else the way it is.

Be careful you only delete partitions on your slave drive. Unless you are ready to do a complete reformat/install.
To answer the second part of your question, yes you can install programs to your slave drive and run them from there. You just have to redirect the install process to whatever drive/folder you want to use. I use mine to do that, and a second partition on my slave for downloads.

Ok. In Fdisk you should see an option "display all partitions". Go through all the virtual and physical partitions deleting them one by one. then creat a new partion using all the memmory (100% use). Then simply restart the system, format the slave drive through dos prompt, set your jumpers right and configure the bios.
